Chilly Weather Travel Essentials

· By Lindsay ·

When you travel to, or live in places with chilly temps, there are a few basic essentials that can truly make or break a day of being out-and-about. The absolute worst is when you’re not prepared and you and everyone in your family ends up chilled to the bone with wind-burned faces and raw cheeks and lips. It’s not rocket science, but we think throwing these key, easy-to-pack travel must-haves into your tote will help ensure a more successful day of sight-seeing (click lavender links to purchase):

Chapstick – We’ve all been there – your lips are killing you they’re so chapped – you dig inside your bag in hopes of finding some relief and all you have is lip gloss.  UGH.  Next time make sure you’re prepared.  It’s best to just always keep some Burt’s Bees Wax in your bag at all times.

Hat – Keeping your head and ears toasty is an absolute must when it’s cold outside. With options that are both chic and warm, you’re no longer relegated to looking like you’re wearing your mom’s old sledding hat.  Not sure which type of hat is right for your head shape, your coat style or just curious if you can get away without washing your hair one more day? Try this Eugenia Kim Women’s Jill Hat in black:

Gloves – You don’t necessarily need to look like you’ve got the right heavy-duty gloves on for a snowball fight or a trek through the Alps, but you do need to make sure to keep your fingers warm all day.  Plus, whether or not it’s true, I always feel like I’m touching fewer germs on subways and taxis when I’ve got on a cute pair of gloves.  This Johnstons of Elgin pair of cashmere gloves is both cozy and cool.

glovwaScarf – Ever get frustrated trying to figure out how some people tie scarves so that they look full and chunky?  Am I the only one who has actually watched how-to videos on tying the perfect scarf?  That’s why infinity scarves are the absolute best.  They can be super warm and you don’t have to be a professional stylist in order to loop it around and make them look good.  This Sofia Cashmere Honeycomb Infinity Scarf is gorgeous, 100% cashmere and comes in three colors.

Sunscreen – We all know we should be slathering on the SPF year round. Some skincare products contain plenty of SPF and some don’t.  To be on the safe side, pick up a bottle of La Roche-Posay Water Lotion Sunscreen and put it on every member of your family in the morning to make sure you’re covered.
